“Unquenchable”

welcome

To “a left handed view”- a selection of photographs demonstrating my approach to image making, plus examples of other work supporting and perhaps revealing its artistic origins.

Here is a quick site summary.

Bio and parti are narrative pages describing historical and conceptual paths to “a left handed view”. They also exhibit contrasting tongue-in-cheek versus serious writing styles typical of other duality in my work.

Merit is a single gallery that includes published and award winning images as well as photos of exhibit installations.

Eye and hand headings are like buildings in a museum complex. Each building housing multiple galleries.

Eye contains several collections in two main categories. In the first dozen, images represent core artistic visions. Mostly abstract, these various themed collections represent current and past projects.

Later in the group are images organized in familiar people, places and things categories. These are favorites, some taken over 45 years ago. While the subjects may be common, photos in these collections represent a long time quest to design the best box before thinking out of it.

Hand features “drawn” work, Executed in an array of media. These range from the doodles of “meeting” collections to the “design-think” sketches architects produce. Perhaps here, development of a mind-hand-eye relationship that is “a left handed view” becomes most apparent.

For those who usually ask about cameras and process, I now use only a cell phone and a Panasonic DMC ZS100 favoring manual settings and RAW format. I do not use Photoshop, processing only with the i Photo app native to my mac. Some collections include older images from Pentax and Nikon SLRs that I digitized from slide and negative scans.
